FASHION
We look forward to Rachel Teumim's 2nd Annual Fabrication fashion show, an amazing summer spectacle of fashion made out of recycled materials. All outfits are created by local designers and are made entirely from materials that would otherwise be tossed, with the exception of whatever is needed to attach the materials together. Rachel Teumim may be contacted for details at massfabrication@gmail.com.
MUSIC
This year, we have partnered with the Brick House's Powertown Music to create a rockin' line up of talent to perform throughout the day and the Country Players has a special STOMP performance planned. Music includes Primate Fiasco, Naia Kete, Groove Shoes, Ghost Quartet, Owiehops, The Junkyard Dog, Heather Maloney and Dakota Roberts all happening between 2 stages.
PARADE
The day's festivities kick off with a parade Turners style, including a lawn chair brigade, zombies, sculpture on a forklift, soapbox procession, singing dancers, parading dogs, poetry toss and probably some good old fashioned metal spoons banging on pots and pans, plus some surprises. Parade starts at 2pm from Avenue A and 2nd Street. Those wishing to march in the parade should show up at 1:30 pm.
STREET FARE
After the parade, 50 street vendors including local restaurants, crafters, and community organizations line the street and create the once a year opportunity for the community to come together and party in the street. Kids will be occupied with activities hosted by Montague Parks and Rec Dept and Greenfield Savings Bank plus some must have cotton candy and sno cones. There will even be a skate park jumping demo with fabulous prizes.
TF SWAG
Turners Falls RiverCulture has produced a new line of hand stenciled Tshirts with iconic Turners Falls images on them, designed by Nayana Glazier, artist and owner of ‘Round Here Café. Thanks Lynn Pelland and HighlandWear out of Holyoke for helping get Tshirts for the designs. Proceeds from t-shirt sales will benefit the RiverCulture Project. The Block Party postcard image is based on a design created by artist, Nina Rossi, who designed and sewed a piece of art specially for the Block Party and will be raffling it off to benefit RiverCulture's programming. The Montague Business Association has organized a raffle to help cover Block Party expenses.
Block Party donations can be made to Turners Falls RiverCulture, one Avenue A Turners Falls, MA 01376
Turners Falls RiverCulture works to make a vibrant and connected Turners Falls community through innovative partnerships and cultural programming.
