Tapestry Weavers in New England (TWiNE) was formed in 1991, to support contemporary tapestry artists, and to preserve and promote the ancient art of hand woven tapestry. Members have studied around the country and around the world, from New England to New Mexico, Israel to Mexico, so their styles and inspirations are diverse. They meet three times a year, wherever tapestry is being created or exhibited in New England. For more information about membership, visit:
www.tapestrywine.blogspot.com.
Tapestry is an ancient weaving technique using discontinuous wefts; instead of weaving one piece of yarn from selvedge to selvedge, the weaver creates an image by using many pieces to weave small areas in different colors.
