Artisans of WMASS, Inc. presents its second Artisan Demonstration Day and Saleon May 7th, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School, 161 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA. Demo Day and Sale is free and open to the public. The event features several Western Massachusetts artisans who will demonstrate the skills and techniques utilized in creating their handmade art and craft.Their work, and those of the non-demonstrating artisans, will be available for purchase.
Engaging and instructive demonstrations will include weaving, pottery, shoemaking, photography, scroll saw woodworking, needle felting, wood carving, origami, basket weaving, and several kinds of jewelry making. The event is an opportunity toconnect customers with artisans in a substantive way because attendees will see for themselves all the care and attention that goes into creating the handmade products they own and treasure.
Several demonstrating artisans will offer “make and take” stations. For a nominal fee charged by the artisans, visitors can create their own take home project—an origami box, a small basket, a leather bracelet, perhaps a willow wreath. The day promises to be a creatively fun, hands-on, and educational experience for all ages.
