The Baltimore Annex Theater presents Beowulf
Doors Open at 7:30pm.
$5-10 donation at door
Beowulf is a psychedelic adventure show using live acting, puppetry, and an interactive set to create several worlds for Beowulf to explore. He duels with a dragon in his tower, Grendel's mother at the bottom the ocean and of course Grendel himself, who has a lot to say about the nature of monsters and heros. The play is inspired by the epic poem, but it is not a "straight adaptation." It is in fact an original script. Many surprises are thrown in.
4 performers act all the roles, do all the lighting, play all music and operate the puppets.
The Baltimore Annex Theatre is based in the Station North area of Baltimore. They stage many plays out of their warehouse space, including Star Trek II, Wrath of Khan and Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus. Beowulf is their first play touring outside of Baltimore. The Annex Theatre family spreads far and includes many talented and wonderful humans, but for this tour the company consists of four: Kevin Blackistone, Evan Moritz, Kaitlin Murphy and Tim Paggi.
