Belchertown resident Robert Cantius exhibits a retrospective of over 40 years of silver photographic prints. He is a keen observer of people and their interactions with each other and their urban environment.
As an artist and photographer, he describes his approach and philosophy toward his work in what he calls the "window and mirror" experience:
"My view and point of view converge in time and place within the many moments and events of the world around me; abstracted and selected from a communal and universal experience with "citizen others": souls on the common streets and in those home-towns where we love and toil to be. There evokes a passionate, lovely and hopeful oral, tactile and visual conversation expanding and affirming the human Gestalt. I see in my camera studies anthropological, self-inclusive, empathetic interactions that are ever evolving, especially, including those viewers and those conversations taking place in front of the exhibited image. I truly enjoy being there."
