Learn to craft unique functional pieces from ordinary gourds. Beginners to advanced students will create four gourd art pieces during this course to take home. Transforming an ordinary gourd into a beautiful vessel not only provides an artistic outlet, it also provides a unique first for yourself or the recipient of your craft. During the course you will learn about gourd health and safety, how to select a gourd for a particular project, cleaning, cutting, sanding and stenciling, decoupage, pyrography (burning design) and weaving pine needles for creating different artistic effects. Examples of work illustrating each technique will be available. There is a $40 materials fee payable to the instructor the first night of class.
