Dancer and choreographer Alicia Morton presents “Flown” at Cross Pollination, a special event at Gallery A3. Morton, who has been dancing for almost forty years, is trained in the technique of Martha Graham and world forms such as Butoh and Indian dance. “Flown” is an original choreography expressing Morton’s mindful approach to dance. She was quoted in the New Orleans Times Picayune in 2009:
"I admire something that holds back a little and invites people in. It might thwart the expectations of some who go to dance concerts, but I have to be true to who I am. That stillness, seeing that lack of overt emotion...it can strike a deeper chord with the viewer. There's something about a still place that's very powerful."
Cross Pollination is a program at Gallery A3 that fosters dialogue across artistic media. Alicia Morton is an invited guest as part of November's exhibition.
