Inspired by her early interest in macro photography of flora, Janine Norton has continued to examine the world up close, sometimes uncomfortably close. By layering and merging different images, she creates a surreal landscape in her art. She captures individually breathtaking photographs, and then used her skills with Photoshop to combine her images and create something entirely new. Her work displays intense focus on the details of her subjects as she juxtaposes disparate elements into a new reality. This exhibit of collaged photographs, at the same time whimsical and introspective, uses images that cross geographical and cultural boundaries, present and past.
Today Janine can be found in Easthampton MA, maintaining her passion for still life, portraiture, and fine art as a freelance photographer. She also teaches classes at Snow Farm and continues to explore the digital format.
