Many great artworks spring from the depths of the subconscious, revealing more than the artists thought they knew. The limitless well of your own subconscious can be available to you. This class will focus on ways of accessing and expressing subconscious material using a variety of drawing techniques. The class will also help students strengthen their work by using principles of design. And most importantly, the class provides an opportunity for students to learn to trust their intuition and open themselves to inspiration. The only prerequisite for this class is a desire to be inspired. The fee is $195 plus these materials: pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, 9B); vine charcoal; compressed charcoal and Nupastel gray shades; kneaded rubber eraser; pink eraser; drawing paper.

Wednesday is a painter and teacher with more than 30 years experience. With a BA from Smith College and an MFA from James Madison University, she is one of the artists who initiated and completed the mural “The History of Women in Northampton from 1680-1980”. She has exhibited widely and has works in numerous private collections throughout the United States. She believes that the role of the teacher is to foster, stimulate, and facilitate investigation and discovery by sharing not only knowledge, but also the excitement of learning.
