The youth of Get Up Get Down (GUGD) created a public seating bench to encourage interaction between people in public spaces. Through cutting, torching, and welding pieces of metal, then adding black and white photo collages taken by GirlsEyeView youth, these youth created a beautiful piece of art that is truly a testament to the powerful work of mind, heart, and hand that our youth are capable of.

GUGD is a program of Youth Action Coalition, a non-profit organization that provides high-qualitiy, free programs that address issues of social justice through the arts. GUGD, based in Amherst, focuses on public art, murals, metal work and other media of interest to youth.
