A life-long photographer, Elizabeth Grace "Za" Burkhart was living and working in Greenwich Village New York CIty when the Twin Towers were attacked. As a social worker at St. Vincents Hospital, Elizabeth was able to caravan to Ground Zero to help in the rescue efforts. Upon her arrival, she took some time to document what she saw.
These photographs were taken over a period of three days. It feels appropriate to hang this show on the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, and to give others an opportunity to see and try to understand the experience of that day.
