Forbes Library proudly presents a free screening of "Johnny Cash: the Man, His World, His Music" on Wednesday March 25th at 6:30pm in the Community Room. This event is a collaboration with P.O.V., the acclaimed independent non-fiction film series on PBS (www.pbs.org/pov).
Filmmaker Robert Elfstrom followed and filmed the legendary country singer on and off the road vérité-style over several months in late 1968 and early 1969. Having just released the critically acclaimed "Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison" LP, this documentary captures Cash at the top of his game. We see the Man in Black performing at alternative venues (again at prisons and also Indian Reservations), visiting cotton fields in his home state of Arkansas and also reminiscing with old friends.... and speaking of old friends, this film boasts appearances by June Carter Cash, Carl Perkins and Bob Dylan!
Please join us to view this excellent and candid portrait of one of America's greatest talents. For more information call 587-1013 or visit www.forbeslibrary.org.
