Ms. Brown is one of the most talented young dancers in the U.S. today, and has performed nationally and internationally to enthusiastic acclaim. She will talk about the influences in her career as a dancer.
Camille A. Brown is a 2006 Princess Grace Award recipient for choreography (and the first woman to receive this award), and has choreographed for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Urban Bush Women, Ballet Memphis, Philadanco, and others.
She will be in residence in the Music and Dance Department at UMass Amherst, where she will re-stage her work, "New Second Line," centered around imagery from Hurricane Katrina. She will also give master classes and a special talk about her work at the University Museum of Contemporary Art.
This lecture is held in conjunction with the Barbara Morgan Dance Photography exhbitition being displayed at the University Museum of Contemporary Art from September 9 - October 16.
