This exhibition of paper-cut art features a special opening reception with a lecture and demonstration on Sunday, February 24, 2-6 pm.
Zierlein’s symmetrical paper cuts are based around the concept of balance, power and equality. Join the illustrator and professor for a talk that focuses on paper-cut art and its historical and contemporary traditions around the world. In the workshop that follows, guests (ages 8 and up) will be invited to explore various paper cut techniques and create their own paper cut art. Linger for refreshments and musical entertainment by Peter Blanchette.
Peter O. Zierlein is a German immigrant, artist and illustrator. His conceptual editorial illustrations appear on a regular basis in many national and international publications including the New York Times, Boston Globe, and Washington Post. He has also designed numerous T-shirts, book- and CD covers and posters. Zierlein has taught at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. and currently teaches at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.
Regular gallery hours are 11am-4pm, Tuesday through Friday. Private viewing available upon request, weekend of February 15th. This event is made possible by support from the Northampton Arts Council.
