The official closing for REACH’s Easthampton exhibits will be celebrated with a performance on May 4 by pianist and composer Melissa St. Pierre at the Apollo Grill from 9 – 10:30 p.m.

Pianist and composer Melissa St. Pierre has been playing piano for 25 years, and performing prepared piano music for 11 of those. While studying at Bennington College, she mounted a concert production of John Cage’s masterwork for the idiom, Sonatas and Interludes, in an interactive theatre environment. She has since released one full-length and two EPs of original compositions, toured the US innumerable times and was a visiting artist in Europe twice. Collaborating with a cadre of musicians and dancers, she has augmented the fundamentals and resultant timbres on a host of pianos. Talks, workshops and presentations include Dorkbot Pittsburgh, Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute, ROYGBIV Festival, Salem Art Works and Mass College of Liberal Arts. A graduate of Bennington College and attendee of New England Conservatory at the Summer Institute of Contemporary Piano Performance, Melissa has gone on to perform at several festivals of international renown: Collision Theory, La Terra Trema, BBMix, South by Southwest, Fantastic Voyagers and Outer Ear.
