Patricia Jenks is an artist living in Holyoke, Massachusetts, maintaining a studio at the Indian Orchard Mills in Springfield, MA. Paintings in oil sticks/oilpastels or acrylics, works on paper in various mediums, and 3-D encaustic reliefs and castings are her current areas of specialization. Because her inspirations come from within, from the metaphysical, from visual interpretations of various writings and music, and from "that which cannot be seen", all her work is abstract and symbolic in nature. The Abstract Expressionists and Surrealists have been her most important artistic influences.
Patricia has been a working artist since 1972 in addition to teaching college and community art courses over the last 30+ years. Currently, she is Gallery Curator for the Art Gallery at Western New England University and an adjunct faculty member teaching several art courses there as well. She received her BFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MFA from the College of Art & Architecture at Clemson University in South Carolina. Her artwork has been exhibited and collected in the Southeast, Northeast, West Coast and Canada.
