Art Meets Treat in “Sweet!” 

Everything is “Sweet!” in the East Gallery at the Center for the Arts where Jane Lund’s annual “invitational” exhibition is on display December 8-31, 2011. This year's is theme is "Sweet!" Join the artists for a festive Arts Night Out opening reception featuring the music of West County Jazz on Friday, December 9, 5-7pm.

"Artists have often portrayed desserts in their work," says Lund. "Think of the early Dutch still life masters who painted cookies and cakes that entice the viewer to this day. The bright colors, luscious textures, and fanciful shapes make 'sweets' a perfect foil for creative impulses."

“Sweet!” is the seventh exhibition that Jane has organized by inviting friends, colleagues and former students to make art with a theme. This year’s delectable collaboration brings together some fifty artists to express their interpretation of things sugary and scrumptious in a range of mediums including photography, painting, and sculpture. Among them are Walter Cudnohufski, Sally Curcio, Rachel Folsom, Nancy Hill, Amy Johnquest, Gary Niswonger, Ali Osborn, Betsy Stone, and Nanny Vonnegut.
