Ten Years/ Ten Countries: Panoramic Photographs by Edward Hing is an exhibition of black and white landscape images. These images are a culmination of a decade of travel throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas capturing familiar and not so familiar locations. Inspired by the images of ‘Peking’ by Felice Beato in the 1860’s and of Egypt by Félix Bonfils in the
1870’s, the photographs attempt to create a sense of place that is quiet, unpopulated, mysterious. In our ever ‘flattening’ world, these are sensations that are becoming increasingly difficult to experience.
Edward Hing has been the Photography and Film Making
Instructor at The Williston Northampton School since 1997. In addition to his teaching duties he is the Head Alpine Ski Coach and directs the Photographer’s Lecture Series and the Williston Northampton Film Festival.
An opening reception will take place at the Forbes Library on Monday April 5th, 2010 from 5-7pm in the Hosmer Gallery.
Also on exhibit in April: Photography by Alan Dayno
