This production for family audiences is inspired by research about honeybees. The performance blends puppetry, dance, live music, audience participation, and offers people of all ages a profound sense of the positive impact their actions can have on our environment, communities, and the future of the honeybee.
"To Bee or Not to Bee" features Piti Theatre Company performers Jonathan Mirin and Godelieve Richard. They are accompanied by Northampton's own singer/songwriter Carrie Ferguson who composed the music and collaborated with Jon on lyrics for the production. She plays the Piano Lady in the show.
After the show, Piti Theatre will distribute seeds for planting bee gardens. The company’s 10% For the Bees campaign encourages the replanting of 10% of lawns with bee friendly habitat and transitioning to organic lawn care methods. There will also be a honey tasting courtesy of Harvard Square honey boutique.
AND...we'll be selling mini, honey spiced cupcakes from the Queen Bee Cupcakery in Thornes Marketplace. Queen Bee offers specialty cupcakes, cake pops, whoopie pies, and vegan and gluten-free treats. Come see a great show and enjoy some snacks created with real honey by some hardworking honeybees themselves. All proceeds go towards fundraising for arts programming.
