A sound installation and performance in the East Gallery, at NCFA.
This work in progress marks the final day of Julia Handschuh's month-long exhibition of sculptures along with the paintings of Anna Bales Aruthur. The event is followed by an artist talk and reception at 8:30 pm. Handschuh's delicate porcelain audio sculptures suspended throughout the space build an otherworldly soundscape amidst the backdrop of Anna Bayles Arthur's paintings. The sounds of cicadas, heartbeats, muscle contractions, breath and domestic fans create a mechanical and organic cacophony to accompany the contemplative and erratic gestures of Handschuh's body. With live and recorded audio mixed on site by Andrew Huckins.
