The paintings and drawings in these two series are maps of imaginary places, though many of them are inspired by real places and resemble places that we have been. I focus on simple physical elements—wind, waves, rivers and river meanders, the texture and motion of tall native grasses, the color of light at different times of day and year.

The works are a combination of oil and metallic paints, pencil, ink, wire, fiberglass screen, and thread. I always make at least two pieces (and usually many more) with the same subject. This way, the subject always pushes me much further than I ever imagined I could go.
