I was born in Boston in the 1960s. I attended the New England Conservatory of Music prep school and the Rivers Conservatory in Weston. I graduated with honors in violin and performance in 1980. Summers were spent studying chamber music at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson, NH whee I learned how to assemble and lead chamber ensembles. I majored in Ethnomusicology at Hampshire College principally studying the history of western European music as it related to the development of Americana. I was the principal violist of the Five College Symphony Orchestra, and the founder and music director of the Pioneer Valley Players, a chamber music ensemble that performed classical music works composed in the Pioneer Valley of western MA. I graduated with a BA in 1985. I opened my studio in 1986 and have been teaching and playing music for weddings and parties ever since.
Describe your organization or gallery
My name is Adam R Sweet. I am a violinist with over three decades of wedding music experience. My specialty is assembling ensembles for the musical aspects of weddings: the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner and the reception. My traditional acoustic ensembles have many years of experience playing and singing together. These ensembles can include mandolin, violin, guitar, bouzouki, bass, banjo, keyboards, horns and percussion in practically any combination. In addition to the world and roots ensembles, I can provide clients with solo classical violin, a string duo, a string or piano trio and string or piano quartet. I can even assemble a small chamber orchestra, playing Bach Brandenburg Concertos and other chamber music.
