Artist Statement/Bio
Ani Rivera combines his passion of the photographic process with other media to create his own unique visual language. Crossing bounderies, he uses the traditional film (analog) process with digital imaging, drawing, painting and collage. His work of urban landscapes, portraits and architecture capture the stillness of the moment, using the camera and film as a tool that holds the latent image, which is but the first step in the process. Inspiration comes from a variety of sources, but as a museum consultant, his intimacy working closely with major artist and works of art for more than 20 years has added to his personal visual library when creating his own art. Ani has been awarded a NYFA and CAPS visual artist fellowship in New York and his work is in private and public art collections in the US, Puerto Rico and Europe.
