I like working with what I have or what I find or what someone else doesn't want. This has to to do with a strong environmental ethic and the idea of rescuing orphaned items or misfit toys. So the story goes: an "ordinary" or discarded object catches my eye and I find that it has some inherent grace. I then want to explore the possibilities when expanding or altering this grace, and enter a very focused relationship with the material. I like to think that the materials used may be recognized, but hold an air of mystery and surprise in the way I arrange them. With regard to the form this takes, I aim to find the meeting point of the organic and the minimal, capturing gestures in the abstract.
