I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah Ga. in 1987 with a major in photography. Professionally my career has involved all areas of photography from darkroom technician and photographer's assistant, stylist, to account executive with an advertising agency.
Although I enjoy painting, drawing and sculpture, my focus as an artist has remained with photography. Although formally trained with large format cameras now I work almost exclusively with a 35mm camera. I especially enjoy the latitude for spontaneity that the smaller bodied camera allows. To keep my eye fresh and trained, I try to carry one with me most of the time. My favorite image to
capture is an everyday object in an unfamiliar, abstract way, creating a puzzle of sorts for the viewer to figure out. Reflections have been a favorite subject for years.
I shoot "straight", there are no manipulations (no cropping or editing) in my photography.
Although it took me some time, I have recently crossed the "digital divide" and am learning lots and having fun with the technology.
