- My work lives in the intersection between visual images and written words. When beginning a piece, I start by curating a collection of images that speak to me. The images that inspire me belong in natures life cycle – lush green landscapes, ocean waves, decaying buildings, people living. Choosing from these images, I begin layering them in a way that makes visual sense to my eye. Certain everyday items may become focal points; fantastical images in others. When the images are done, I comb through my collection of words harvested from headlines and ads from magazines. The final look of the piece is accomplished through the poetry created by the words and fonts of the letters. I leave the piece open to the interpretation of the viewer and encourage discussion on the layers of the piece.
