Fiction has been my work: in stories that have been
published in The Paris Review, Southwest Review, Other Voices, and other journals and anthologies; and in a novel published by Norton in 2004 entitled The Honey Wall. I am less interested in story as such than I am in the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves as a form of self-definition. And with that: how the layers of the past are to be found in any given moment of the present. And I've made it part of my work to strive to give language expression through connotation, denotation, and cadence as well as in literal meaning.
