Artist Statement/Bio: I am a dancer and performing artist specializing in improvisation and live creation. As Dakini Borealis, I use fabric, air and light to bring moving, responsive human sculpture to music acts and varying venues/events. Dakini Borealis has appeared with Jeff Bujak; VJ Foo; DJ's Klute, A-Sides, Popgirl and Breakbeat Science founders DB and Dara, and performed with bands such as Black Pyramid, Planetoid, Dreamosaic, The Indobox and HydroElectric, as well as Hendrix drummer Gerardo Velez. As an improvisational dancer in general, I work with nature, objects, spaces, sound and almost any stimulus to create visual, emotional interpretation and add another dimension to any piece or idea. Music and visual artists with whom I've danced include Tai Dang, Tony Vacca, Jim Matus, Mawwal, Jeff Derose, Marianne Connolly, Shubalananda, Wendy Osserman and Edith Stephen. Currently working on a project with Mark Knox and studying aerial fabric dance.
