Maura Milbier is currently an art student at Alfred University and a member of the Wilbraham Art League. She is focusing on patterns through silk screening, watercolor/gouache paintings. She is currently interested in breaking up patterns through the negative space around the pattern, and creating a new image by breaking up an existing image into parts through color and composition. She is currently challenging what makes a space a negative or positive space, turning the negative spaces of existing patterns into positive space. She has always explored abstract expressionism, through painting, and mono-printing. She has always enjoyed doing realistic drawings and exploring mixed media and has recently started exploring combining the two. She has always enjoyed doing portraits and is interested in using single body parts to create a portrait, using a hand, foot, shoulder, etc to express emotion, purpose, and persona. She is happy to do any comissioned work.
