Artist Statement/Bio

I have been an artist for almost my entire life - I don't remember a time when I wasn't creating images for my own enjoyment, and I come from a family of talented artists and craftspersons. My love of art lead me to study Studio Art and Art History at Mount Holyoke College. Besides creating art for myself or for friends and family, throughout the last 15 years I have done hundreds of privately commissioned house and pet portraits in oil, watercolor or ink, many of which you can see on my blog, www.michelleryanart.blogspot.com. Currently, I am working on a series of oil paintings depicting landscapes in the Hilltowns.
