Michelle Vigeant works in a variety of mediums. Although she studies biology at the university of Massachusetts Amherst she has always had an interest in the arts. Her favorite subjects are animals, both fantasy and real.
Currently, the mediums she works in most are markers, watercolors and polymer clay. She particularly enjoys making ACEOs, which are a form of artist trading card, of which the requirements are only that the peice be 2.5X3.5 inches--the size to fit in a "baseball card" type of binder. She feels that the movement of creating smaller peices of art helps people of lower income both create and collect art as smaller peices are generally less expensive and need much less room. She often works within the "furry" community, creating peices with anthropomorphic animals as the subject.
In 2008 she opened up a small Etsy store and started offering commissions on various pet forums and online galleries. She has been moderately successful in selling her works, particularly her small one-of-a-kind charms of various critters. She has also sold prints of her ACEOs to people all over the world.
A lot of her inspiration comes from her pets, all of which are rescues. She does independent rescue in her own time, and also works with Mainely Rats Rescue as a foster home.
