Artist Statement/Bio: CALL FOR ARTISTS: River Valley Market displays art work by its member-owner artists in the Quarry Cafe.

1). Open to River Valley Market member-owner artists for hanging art work only. Paintings, photography, fabric, collage. 3-D art only if hung from the wall on standard hooks.
2). Hanging period will be for 1 calendar month (put up on the 1st, take down on the last day of the month.) There is space for up to 14 paintings to be hung (depending on size).
3. Applications for the 2009 year should be sent to art@rivervalleymarket.coop. Art Work will be juried by a committee of co-op member-owners. Deadline for 2009 shows is March 1, 2009.

Describe your organization or gallery: River Valley Market is a community owned retail food co-op specializing in fresh, local, and organically grown foods. River Valley Market is open 9-9 daily. Membership is not required. River Valley Market values the role of the arts in the community. Our Quarry Cafe seating area features works by a different local artist monthly. Our front entryway features a permanent ceramic/wood installation by local artist Emmett Leader. Througout the store there are photographs related to local farmers and foods by several area photographers. A large wall mural painting by local artist Jonathan Kohrman is featured in the fresh produce department. Also on display is a handmade quilt by Bette Sokolowski (with support from the member outreach committee) made from the t-shirts of 48 other food co-ops from across the country that helped support River Valley Market during its development stage.
