Artist Statement/Bio

My work presents a series of investigations into the ether of memory and an awkward state of quasi-adolescence. It is vaguely autobiographical and partly invented history. The source material exists (or does not exist) in the unreliable film of recollection. I have come to realize that my memories of youth are so under-the-influence of peer mythology and popular culture, that it is impossible to unravel them. Even my own memory seems to alter details of the past without my knowing. Therefore, my work becomes a projection of a kind of childhood of the collective unconscious. It attempts a psychological space, redolent of actual events: The puerile need for reckless enthusiasm and alter ego.
