Zea Mays printmaking is very excited to announce an opportunity for artists that will hopefully challenge the “traditional” idea of a print, on paper: Prints on Alternative Surfaces. The show will run from July 5- August
31, 2011 in the Gallery at Zea Mays Printmaking. We invite you to submit your
best recent work on alternative surfaces (up to three pieces) for this show,
which will be juried by Leslie Ferrin of Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield, MA.

Eligibility: Open to all artists. Artists may submit up to three prints. We are looking to exhibit pieces that are printed on alternative and non-traditional surfaces. Anything goes, as long as it is not
traditional western printmaking paper—wood, glass, cloth, handmade paper,
unusual Asian or Indian papers, ephemera, recycled materials, etc. — the
possibilities are endless.

Size Dimensions: 2-D and 3-D pieces are both accepted. Prints should be no larger than 8 feet high, 4 feet
wide and 1 foot in depth.

The exhibition: All prints will be exhibited unmated, unframed and unmounted, using a magnet hanging
system when possible. Special hanging challenges will be addressed individually
with the artist if the work is accepted.
Please describe display needs on the entry form. Accepted prints must
remain on display until the close of the exhibit.

The juror: Leslie Ferrin is the owner and curator of the Ferrin Gallery, http://www.ferringallery.com/ in Pittsfield, MA. The gallery’s program presents
changing exhibitions featuring contemporary art, photography and sculpture from
throughout the region along with nationally known ceramic sculptors and studio
potters.

Entry Fee: There is a $20 fee for entering. Please make checks out to Zea Mays Printmaking.

Submissions: Please submit digital images of work on a CD- with your name written on the CD. Individual files should be saved as JPGs at 72 dpi and should not exceed 800 pixels on the longest side. Each JPG
should be saved with the first letter of your first name, last name and numbers
1, 2 or 3. (i.e. fsmith1.jpg). Please include a hard copy of the entry
form. CD should be handed in with
the accompanying entry form and the entry fee.

Entry Deadline: Submissions must arrive at Zea Mays Printmaking by June 8^th, 2011. No late
entries will be accepted. Please
mail an entry form, the entry fee and up to 3 JPGS images. Please mail all
materials to Zea Mays Printmaking, 221 Pine St, #320 Florence, MA 01062.

Notification: Artists will be notified via email during the week of June 20^th. The selected work will then have to be submitted in person to Zea Mays by June 29^th.

Delivery of selected work: All work must be hand delivered, and picked up at the end of the exhibition. Please hand
deliver work in a reusable container with your name on the back, i.e. for a 2-D
piece, a clear sleeve or a plastic/cardboard box for 3-D work. No shipping of work and no return
shipping of work. All work must be hand delivered.

Pick up of exhibited work:September 2- 7, 2011. Please call the studio in advance to confirm someone will
be present before arriving. The studio cannot store work beyond the designated
pick up dates. All work must be picked up by Wednesday, September 7^th,
2011 by 5pm.

Calendar:

Digital Entry Deadline: June 8^th, 2011-- All digital entries must have arrived by mail to Zea Mays.

Notification of selected works: Week of June 20^th, 2011.

Hand Delivery of selected prints deadline: June 29^th, 2011

Pick up of work at the studio after exhibit: September 2^nd—September 7^th 2011.

Exhibition dates: July 5- August 31^st, 2011

Reception: July 8^th, 2011 6- 8pm

Agreement: The Artist agrees to exhibit work at their own risk. Zea Mays Printmaking is not responsible for the loss of damage of works while on display in the gallery or in transit. Insurance is the
responsibility of the artist. Of course, the utmost care of the artwork will
always be taken whenever possible.
