Using first the camera, I explore abstract compositions in cultivated plants and then extend the creative process with
oils on canvas. Intentionally using sharp and soft focus, I’m drawn to the painterly qualities of elements outside a narrow depth of field, and the sharp, irregular lines weaving through the images.
Most of the plants in my exhibits were growing within 50 feet of my home in Hadley,Massachusetts, in my own modest gardens and in the gardens of nearby friends and neighbors.
I began drawing and painting in early childhood, using whatever scraps of paper and materials available. By 1984 I had completed an undergraduate degree as an art major at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. I've been working as a graphic designer and fine artist ever since.
Are you the same person I worked with at Milton Bradley a million years ago when you were making batik and my name was Diane Fields , making video games? I've just now signed up at valleyartshare under my married name Diane Kennedy.
